Whipped Feta — The Easiest Appetizer Ever

If you need an appetizer that feels like it came from a fancy restaurant but takes barely five minutes to make then whipped feta is your secret weapon. It’s creamy, tangy, salty, and downright addictive. Whipped feta is the kind of dip everyone hovers around at a party until the bowl is empty.

Whipped feta is exactly what it sounds like: feta cheese blended until smooth with protein packed Greek yogurt, a drizzle of olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, and whatever added flavor boosts you’re feeling. The result is a silky, cloud like spread that pairs with basically everything. It’s amazing with warm pita, crusty bread, crunchy veggies, or even a drizzle of honey and red pepper flakes.

It’s simple, elevated, and endlessly customizable. Perfect for holiday gatherings, summer evenings on the patio, or anytime you need an easy appetizer that still delivers a big wow moment.

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder (optional)

Optional Toppings

  • Pomegranate salsa (pomegranate, cilantro, jalapeno, red onion, lime juice)
  • Honey and red pepper flakes
  • Roasted cherry tomatoes
  • Fresh herbs (dill, basil, cilantro, or parsley)
  • Olive oil and za’atar seasoning
  • Roasted grapes
  • Figs and honey
  • Berry compote
  • Toasted walnuts or pistachios

For Serving

  • Warm pita or flatbread
  • Sliced baguette
  • Crackers
  • Fresh or roasted veggies

Instructions

1. Blend

Add feta, Greek yogurt, olive oil, and lemon juice to a food processor. Blend until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides once or twice.

2. Taste & Adjust

Add garlic if you want a savory bite. Season with salt and pepper if needed (remember feta is naturally salty!).

3. Plate

Spoon onto a shallow bowl or plate and use the back of your spoon to create swoops and swirls.

4. Add Toppings

Drizzle with olive oil and finish with your choice of toppings. For the holidays I like to serve it topped with Pomegranate salsa (pomegranate seeds, cilantro, jalapeno, red onion, lime juice).

5. Serve

Serve immediately with pita, bread, or veggies, or chill until ready to use.

Make Ahead Tips

  • You can blend the whipped feta up to 2 days in advance.
  • Store in an airtight container and add toppings right before serving.
  • Give it a quick stir before plating. The feta dip fluffs right back up.

Serving Variations for Whipped Feta

Whipped feta dip is very customizable. Get creative and explore different flavor combinations.

  • Herby Whipped Feta: Add dill, basil, or parsley directly into the blender.
  • Spicy Whipped Feta: Add a spoonful of chili paste or top with hot peppers.
  • Sweet Whipped Feta: Finish with maple or honey, pistachios, and berries.

Serve it with a Greek or Mediterranean themed grain bowl. Whipped Feta can be served in the same ways you might use hummus. Use it as a spread on a veggie wrap or sandwich. It’s also amazing served drizzled on roasted carrots.
