Christmas Cake Dip Made with Little Debbie Cakes
If there’s one snack that screams Christmas nostalgia, it’s the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake. Those soft layers of vanilla cake, creamy filling, and sweet frosting are iconic. And while they’re delicious straight from the box, they also make the perfect base for southern holiday desserts. Christmas Cake Dip is a fluffy sweet dessert made with Little Debbie Christmas Cakes, whipped topping and cream cheese. It’s the perfect centerpiece for holiday cookie dessert boards.

Holiday Snack Cakes With Southern Charm
Did you know that Little Debbie snack cakes are made in Tennessee? They are made in the small town of Collegedale which is just outside of Chattanooga. Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes were invented in 1985. Since then they have become a southern staple in homes during the holiday season.
The town has a city park dedicated to these yummy snacks. Little Debbie Park was opened in 2023 and has a bronze statue of Little Debbie as well as several fiberglass sculptures made to look like giant versions of their famous snack cakes.
The city of Collegedale is also the home of Southern Adventist University which is a religious school. The Seventh-day Adventists church promotes a wholesome plant based lifestyle so many people who live in this community are vegetarians. For that reason there are many veggie friendly shops and restaurants in Collegedale.
If you plan a road trip to check out Little Debbie Park make sure you check out Village Market and one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants, High Su. Also be aware that many businesses in the area are closed on Saturdays due to religious observances. Village Market is a small grocery store that is owned by the university but across the street from campus. They stock an incredible amount of vegan products! High Su is a vegetarian Chinese restaurant in town. The sweet and spicy vegan chicken bites are my favorite on their menu!

Christmas Cake Dip
Christmas Cake Dip is like cheesecake dip meets cake batter. It’s fluffy, sweet, and made for dipping. This dessert dip is festive, fun, and fast to make. Perfect for a holiday movie night, cookie swap, or Christmas gathering. Plus you get a little taste of nostalgia with each bite.
How to make it:
- In a large mixing bowl beat softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and a touch of vanilla. Beat with hand mixer until the mixture is smooth and no lumps of cream cheese remain. Then mix in the crumbled Christmas tree cakes. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add a tablespoon or two of milk as needed to thin the dip so it is easier to mix.
- Next fold in whipped topping and gently mix the dip together.
- Decorate the top of the dip with extra holiday sprinkles right before serving
- Serve with cookies, pretzels, animal crackers, or fruit for dipping.
Decorating Ideas
- Top your dip with extra crushed Christmas Tree Cakes for added texture.
- Decorate the top of your dip with red icing to mimic the design on the Little Debbie cakes.
- Simply decorate with red and green sprinkles.
I decorated the top of my dip with Twinkles Sprinkles and Christmas Softies Natural Sprinkles by Supernatural. I love these sprinkles because they are vegan and have no artificial dyes. The taste and texture is perfect for all of your holiday baking projects. I have been using these sprinkles on everything this year from cookies, to a bowl of ice cream, and sprinkled generously on top of the whip cream on my hot chocolate.
