Grilled Strawberry PB&J Sandwich

I don’t know how many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I have eaten in my life. Hundreds or thousands? They are so easy and effortless to make. Plus they are pretty filling and pack some good protein. PB&Js are normally thought of as kids food but they don’t have to be. I love a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Sometimes changing one simple ingredient and adding some love can make all the difference in a recipe.

To make my PB&J sandwich a little more grown up I replaced the sugary processed jelly with grilled strawberries. Fresh fruit on a sandwich! Grilled fruit?! Yes, you can put fruit on a sandwich and Grilled strawberries are amazing! They are juicier and sweeter than raw berries. Plus this makes your sandwich healthier by cutting out processed sugars and preservatives.

Grilled strawberries are amazing! And so easy to make!

Grilling Strawberries Is Easy!

After you wash your berries cut the tops off and skewer them. Pre-heat the grill to medium. Add your strawberry skewers to the grill over a low flame. Close the cover to keep the heat in and grill for about 10 minutes. Make sure to flip them half way through to grill both sides.

Crunchy or Smooth?

It’s the age old question that has been hotly debated. I am normally a smooth peanut butter kind of girl but I won’t hate on crunchy peanut butter. Go with what ever you like best.

While the berries are still warm slice them in half and add onto your peanut butter sandwich. The grilled berries will be soft and squishy. The grilled fruit melt into the peanut butter all warm and gooey.

Hope you enjoy!
