Brunch at Plant in Miami

I spent the long weekend in South Florida. It was just a quick solo trip to visit family and friends but it was so nice to escape to a warmer climate for a few days. Sunday we went to brunch at a mostly raw plant-based vegan restaurant called Plant in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami.

The restaurant is in an unbelievable location. The Wynwood district is so vibrant and colorful it’s walls are covered in murals but Plant is tucked away in a tranquil urban garden called The Sacred Space. The weather was perfect so we were able to sit outside by the reflecting pool and soak in the sunny afternoon.

We started with the Handcrafted Vegan Cheese Board that featured three cashew cheeses, pickled veggies, and sunflower seed crackers. I loved the pickled watermelon rind!

I ordered two of the starters. This is the Harvest Dumplings. It is a sweet potato-coconut wrapper with ginger foam. Inside the wrapper was a kimchi cashew mixture. I think this was my favorite because it was delicate and playful but the kimchi cashew gave it a punch of flavor. It was distinctive but not overpowering.

The other starter that I tried was the Burnt Carrots because I am a sucker for anything with carrots.

My friend Cyndi ordered the Moroccan Bowl. It was incredible too. This was the best main dish that our group ordered. I really enjoyed sharing this meal with others that don’t normally eat a plant based diet. I was thrilled that they had an open mind about everything and they seemed to enjoy the meal as much as I did.

It was a wonderful vegan experience! I would highly recommend going to Plant if you are in Miami and want to treat yourself. Everyone on the staff that we talked to was incredibly friendly and well informed about what the restaurant was serving. Everything on the menu looked amazing.  I can’t wait to go back! I want to try their dinner menu next time. My only regret is that I didn’t have more time to walk around the area and check out some of amazing art on  Wynwood walls.
